Here is something I wrote about my time during the pandemic lockdown in early 2020:
Unlike many people during this time of quarantine, my daily work has not changed much. I am lucky. I paint, draw, garden, exercise, try to eat well, get my sleep and then do basically the same stuff the next day. Coffee in the morning, wine in the evening. I have, though, begun to feel some weird effects of being confined, of not seeing friends, and of missing my adult kids who have only recently emptied from my nest. I love time alone but I crave society as well. So, as l continue to complete and start new paintings - paintings already in my queue of ideas and themes - I have also begun making these "Quarantine Bits". All but one - a self portrait in oil - are works on paper: ink, using a brush, so I can force myself to keep the work loose and quick, so I can get back to my "real" work. These illustrations are scenes from my home quarantine. They are a way to measure the days, and while I won't promise to do one every day, I am finding that I look forward to the practice, so, perhaps they will flow more frequently as time passes.
