Country Club Creek is the name of a creek in Austin that feeds into the Colorado River. This scene is from a walk I took with a friend in Roy Guerrero Park in the Montopolis area in South East Austin. There had been some flooding and construction in the spot and the creek bed looked less than idyllic. And the name: Country Club Creek, surely not the name given by the Native American former inhabitants of the area, struck me as ridiculous. A bland, white washed, moniker for a creek that looked as mysteriously beautiful as it did neglected and mistreated.
